Acne is the bane of adolescents and women all over the world. It is a common skin problem and is most prevalent amongst adolescents. This appears as red or white pimples or as blackheads that can leave temporary scars on the face, chest and back. Many serious forms leave the face pockmarked. During adolescence, the oil secreting glands in the skin produce excessive amounts of sebum, the oily secretion that protects and lubricates the skin. Because of this the follicle openings in the skin get clogged with trapped sebum and get sealed by normal coloured skin, creating infection and inflammation.

What is CLEARGEN™?

CLEARGEN™ is a proprietary standardised extract of Garcinia Mangostana, more commonly known as Mangosteen. Mangosteen is referred to as the Queen of Fruits in South East Asia. and has been traditionally used for skin care. It was used to treat various skin infections and to provide a smooth, blemishless appearance to the skin.

Mangosteen contains a class of compounds called as Xanthones, which are potent anti-oxidants. Xanthones have also been demonstrated to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

An in-vitro (lab based) study was conducted in Thailand in a laboratory that specialises in clinical trials for the cosmetics industry. The study showed that the Mangosteen Extract which forms the basis of CLEARGEN, has excellent inhibitory activity against bacteria like Escherichia Coli, Bacillus Subtitlis, Staphylococcus Aureus and Salmonella Albany.
